Government of Ireland Scholarship 2023 to 2024

This scholarship is a full funding scholarship for international students. It’s only for students of postgraduate studies. These scholarships provide a stipend worth €18,500 per annum, a contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum. Also, the students are eligible for direct research expenses of €3,250 per annul.

However, the government of Ireland’s postgraduate scholarship program is a national initiative. And as discussed it’s financed by the Department of Education and Skills and run by the council.

Criteria for qualification for Ireland government scholarship

To qualify for master’s and doctoral scholarships by the Ireland government, all applicants must meet the requirements below:

  • Required Languages: English
  • Eligible Countries: All the countries in the world
  • Also, applicants should have first-class or upper second-class honors in bachelor’s or the equivalent degree. However, if the undergraduate examination isn’t known at the point of application, the council will make a provisional offer of a scholarship condition that it is equivalent. If not, the applicant must have a master’s degree. Also, the council’s decision on an applicant’s eligibility is final.
  • As an applicant, you must not have had two former unsuccessful applications to the scheme. Also, this will include strategic partner themes within the scheme.
  • Must have a new entrant to the degree that they have to receive through the council funding. Also, be formally accepted by the right department or school.
  • For those studying for a research master’s scholarship must not hold or have a former council of postgraduate scholarship.
  • Those applying for a Ph.D. degree scholarship must not hold previously or presently any council  Postgraduate scholarship other than the one which would help them to get a research master’s degree.
  • They’ll fall under one or two categories depending on nationality and residency.
  • Those in category 1, applicants must meet BOTH of the following criteria like being a citizen of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA). Also, they can belong to Switzerland and Have been ordinarily residents in an EEA member state or Switzerland for a continuous period of 3 of the 5 years following October 1st.
